Just makes you wonder how many deer get killed but not accounted for every year. Probably do not want to know.
I have seen research done by Deer and Deer Hunter magazine in the past and it's about 50% for both bow and gun hunters. That means 50% are lost and 50% are recovered. But some of the 50% lost was due to hunters not taking the deer after being shot because of it being too small or it was a doe shot in buck season.
I have only lost one deer because the neighbor would let us follow it on his property and we found out later he found it and ate it. So that's makes me feel better.
