Frustration With Neighbors

I understand its his property. It was just frustrating. I had been waiting all week for this weekend. O well, Ill just have to keep trying. Don't have any other property to move to in order to use him to my advantage. I have 4 acres to hunt on and that's it. Public land is over run around here.

That would be frustrating but there are probably some good ways to get around it. Sounds like you might be able to pick up his woods to hunt. Even if he is clearing out, chances are that it'll grow back thicker next year and maybe produce some good cover. If nothing else, when you luck out and shoot a slunger, he can haul it out of there in the Bobcat.

Oh, and thanks for introducing Douche Canoe to TOO. That's going to get some great mileage!

I feel like I should change direction on this one. Dustin hasn't chimed back in. Can't speak for everyone, but I personally don't want you to think I am ragging on you. I don't think anyone else is either, but can't speak for them. Douche canoe is freakin' hilarious. I am not making fun. I am laughing at the response your choice of words has received.

Overall, nothing wrong with venting. Sounds like an opportunity to make some lemonade out of your lemons. If it doesn't work out with the new neighbor in regards to securing more land. . .nothing ventured, nothing gained. You still have the small tract you had been hunting and can keep looking for some more land like the rest of us are continually doing.

My .02 will be that any land is good land. Any property is getting so hard to get to hunt anymore. Yeah, it sucks that your neighbor has decided to "spruce up" his property right now but that's just how it is. I had a guy do the same to me in the spring when I was turkey hunting. It was also touched on earlier that this could very well be his little piece of heaven and possibly his life long dream coming true. I would introduce myself with a nice helping of deer bologna and jerky like was said before. I would much rather talk to someone who is offering to feed me. Haha. It may be hard to do but be nice, it could be the beginning of an awesome hunting sanctuary. Hopefully you didn't get upset and decide to not respond anymore. The responses you are getting are the honest responses of some great members here and that's what you can expect in the future. We don't sugar coat our opinions and just tell ya what ya wanna hear we try to give you that " outside looking in unbiased honest opinion".

This exact thing happened to a friend of mine. He could watch the deer and coyotes from his house but would not ask because 1/4 mile away was a deer blind on that property. I stayed on him long enough that he finally asked. Farmers were working on taking out a fence and my buddy showed up with 12 cold ones. Asked about shooting the coyotes and ended up with permission to hunt the deer on his end of the field as well. Never Think Never.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the feed back. I wasn't offended by any of it. I was taken aback at first because I was only venting. But I do see the positives. I'm glad I could help enrich everyone's vocabulary. Being ex military, you tend to hear quite a few clever phrases that stick with you. I do have some jerky from my first deer I shot a few weeks ago. I just might go knock on this guys door. Like one of the guys said, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I cant seem to remember my password, so I cant book mark this site on my cell phone. Anyone help with that? Have a great day yall. Ill be up in Lima hunting this weekend with a group Hunt With Heroes. Ill be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

Been laughing most o the time reading this, just glad I wasn't in the stand while doing it hahaha.... DB we all have frustrating seasons and neighboring landowners who screw up our hunts while working their property..... It's all pard of the game.... You just need too adapt and overcome is all.....

People sold farm off to a new farmer and the first thing he did was bring in a logging company and three big catapilers and push out three tree lines filled with 200 year old oaks. I wanted to go green peace on there ass but it wasn't mine so we went out and paid homage to the spot that i got my first bow kill in and thats it. The closest tree to the spot that i got mine from this year is 500 yards away. The best thing about this new spot is no squirrels in the middle of a field on a ditch line. It will work out for you!!!

My neighbors often decide to shoot their handguns, mow grass, ride their 4 wheelers, let their kids scream all evening, or run their rabbit dogs but its all on their land so you just gotta live with it. Use it to your advantage. And yes, go meet him, can't hurt.

Yelp, welcome to the club! Like mentioned earlier, we've all had situations like this and there is nothing to do but move on and live with it. Like the idea of talking to him and seeing where it goes. Might be a very positive outcome! Good luck!

Same thing happened to me two years ago, some guy bought the woods next to me and EVERY night as s as he got home from work around 5 he was on his bulldozer clearing trees, drove me nuts, but it was his land, nothing I could do, but I did get a nice buck that year so you never know!

As I sat on stand yesterday evening I had two neighbors running gas leaf blowers. I sat there and chuckled to myself thinking it sounded like dueling leaf blowers instead of dueling banjos. I should have known better than to hunt in 60 degree weather. You just got to roll with the punches when it comes to outside interferences that are beyond your control.
