GERD and Hiatal Hernias

Wife dealt with this really bad for a few years. The first couple episodes we went to the hospital. They diagnosed her with GERD and she ended up on Nexium. She took that pretty religiously for a couple years. Once the price on it went through the roof she decided she just wasn't going to take it anymore. She hasn't had a problem with heart burn since. Don't get me wrong, she will get it on occasion, but never like she did before.

If you find anything that has lasting effect let me know.

I have had this issue for a few years now. I get to the point my gut is so bloated that it pushes up on my diaphragm and honestly is why I look as fat as I do. When I'm not bloated my gut is at least half. Really sucks when I'm out walking the woods and go up and down hills and need to take deep breaths. I get reflux from stupid things you wouldn't think would cause a problem. Peanut butter, mac and cheese, some fruits will do it as well because of the natural acid.

I use to take omeprazole daily but now I just take it if my reflux gets really bad. Dr. told me to cut out drinking anything with fizz, eat bland foods with no spices including black pepper, and stop smoking. I just say fuck it and eat and drink what I want.
