Good stuff Brock.... Nothing like a boy and his dog..... Crate training is one of the essentials for him too learn, he'll whine a lot but you can't leave a pup full of piss and vinegar out on his own lol.....

NWOhio!
I have owned a GSP for a couple of years now...we got her when she was 4 months...we drove down to Troy from Toledo area and I knew we weren't leaving the dog shelter without this dog! Anyway, she has been awesome...very smart dog, catches on quick and rules the roost over Max (90lb Weimeraner/Lab)...this is typical of female dogs even if they are lower in the pack...but both dogs have been great with the new additions of 3 babies in the last couple of years...no issues with that at all.

I am not even close to a dog training expert and my dogs are no where near perfect dogs...and a lot of people say it is hard to get a GSP to retrieve, but for my GSP, retreiving is her reward...she never really took food as reward to often, especially after I introduced her to retreiving....If she doesn't get out to do some retreiving, she is always at the back door waiting to go out and she often times brings me my socks out of the laundry as to say, "come on dad, let's get out there and throw me some bumpers!!"

She does it all though...caught her on dead point watching a little bird on our fence last evening, she waited till I flushed it then chased it as far she could go (fenced in yard)...she loves when the kids come out and let her chase pheasant wings on a fishing pole TOO!
