I had one of these 25 years ago. It had a piece of angle that went around the back of the tree vs. the wrapped chain as the newer models do. I gave it to a buddy after 10 years or so, he still uses it. The platform was a little narrow. Aside from that, it was by far the best climber I ever used. I never used a safety system with it... bad idea, but it was so solid on the tree I never felt a bit spooked even at the ridiculous heights I hunted at back then. Since then I have owned Ol Man, Lone wolf, and Summit stands. None compare, though the Summit is my favorite of those three. I still use a Summit Viper. It's tolerable, but does not grip the tree nearly as well.

Jesse if I had your money I'd buy TOO... LOL Since I want to buy a few new cam's, bino's and a crossbow this year I want to keep the cost of the stand to around $200.00... Retired folks are on a budget ya know...

Go ahead and buy the lone wolf. Otherwise next year you will be wishing you had.

It was like a flat piece of bar stock shaped like a boomerang wasn't it. If so I had one when I was younger. Great stand.
