I got out yesterday on a small farm pond. 3 to 4 inches of solid ice. I caught 40 to 50 crappies and gills. Not a bad day to start the season. I hope to be on the big pond soon.

Man am I jealous! I'm chomping at the bit to get on some ice. Probably this week sometime I'll get my gear out of storage. Nice work on the crappies and gills!
Lots of luck. Many years ago my older brother always ice fished lake Erie. The weekend before I was supposed to go with him he was out and the ice broke off and floated out. They had to be brought in with a choper. Lucky he didn't drive his truck out like the other guys did.
