I wasn't trying to question the suitability of the planned group get together it was more of a question of do you guys actually think about the safety awareness of those you hunt with especially those you don't know well. I think we all just assume that guys on a hunting site know what they are doing, but I'm pretty sure that is not always going to be the case.

Many of you here have gotten to know each other personally and I'm sure you have developed a pretty good assessment of each other.

I'm guessing Joel's buddy either never thought about it or felt safe hunting with that guy that night right up until the moment he realized he was shot.

I understand the concern Kim and rightfully so but so far, everyone I've met at TOO events seem to have a lot on the ball when it comes to handling a gun or bow. As long as the required adequate hunter orange is worn that would help let those in the group know where everyone is at.

Running into others outside the party during a drive could pose a few risks though and you don't know how schooled those hunters are on hunter safety regulations and rules. That would have to be addressed I'm sure as well. Lots of idiots out there these days!

As for your situation 40 years ago, that would have been very sobering indeed! WOW!!!! Pulling the hammer back takes TOO long?!?! Really!!!:smiley_confused_vra

I have shot with several of ya'll, I feel very comfortable with everyone's gun safety I observed, I thought the fathers did excellent helping and showing their boys how to properly participate in a clay shoot.
