Our Bassett hound had something similar when he was a young pup. He outgrew it but we also found out that he's going to be prone to arthritis later in life anyway from when we were figuring it out.

I hadn't heard of it either till recently when I googled dog lameness because hip displasia was the only one I knew. Everything I read and what my vet told me is it's temporary and treatable. The problem is he's growing so fast, Zach says he's 15-20 pounds bigger then his siblings.

My sisters Great Dane pup has this. Basically one leg bone grows faster then the other and causes "growing pains" All she has to do is cut his food back for a week and give him a pill for the pain. Vet told my sister it could do that for up to 18mo but usually the dogs are done with it by the 1st year.

Good luck Sam. Hope he grows out of it pretty quick man.
