Hatfield & McCoy Trails

Has anyone here ridden on the Hatfield & McCoy Trails with a 4-wheeler, SxS, dirt bike, Duel Sport bike or Adventure Bike?

I know nothing about the trails, other than there are different skill level trails and they're all marked as such.
I'd like to hear about your experiences (good or bad), about these trails.

It does get busy on the weekends and driving 77 you’ll see a lot of trucks with toy haulers heading to and from it….

I'm considering the purchase of a Duel Sport bike (250cc) or a 4-wheeler (400cc or bigger), but I'd like to find several places to ride, before making the purchase. Also, there are similar trails in southern Indiana that I've heard good things about, which would be slightly closer.

I've ridden some of it on a quad, but that was probably 15 years ago. It's worth the trip for sure.

Well, I just watched about 2 hours worth of H&M trail riding on dirt bikes and it totally changed my mind and turned me against the idea of buying one. If it were just basic trail riding, I'd be okay, but I'm definitely too old for that type of riding....on a dirt bike.
A 4-wheeler would be a better option.

I have done it several times, lots of fun. There are tons of different trails and areas and even other trails that are not under the banner

Matwon is where we rode out of in WV. Awesome riding. Found a local who showed us some nasty single track. It was great. But after reading your update. . . You better stick to your golf cart. Good luck figuring out your next adventures. Maybe a quad is the way to go. I find them to be more physically demanding to go fast than a dirt bike but I cut my teeth dirt biking in SE KY.

You could go ride trails in the northern lower of Michigan. The trails up there seem pretty tame

We have done this on our 4 seater SxS. Was a great time and trails of all sorts. You can find technical if that is what you are after but we didn't think any of it was too rough. Saw plenty of quads and some larger dirt bikes but mostly side by sides. It's cool cause all of the towns are rider friendly. Easy to run thru town get gas and lunch or dinner. Basically park truck and trailer at your cabin or rental and never drive vehicle during trip. The trail systems are vast and require a lot of miles to get from one point of interest to another. Lot of old mining roads that can get dusty but it is more about putting miles on not challenging your machine to see what it can do. Helmets are required with a DOT sticker, and they are relatively strict about drinking on the trails so if that is your thing need to be discrete or just avoide drinking on the ride. Cool wild horses and high mountain photo ops. The newer trail GPS systems have these marked for review but we hired a guide one day so we could just enjoy and drive without worry of navigating.

I sold the golf cart about a month after making it street legal. We had intended to hit the community garage sales, the water dog races and a few other events. As it turned out....garage sales suck! Nothing but baby clothes and flea market trash.
The Lincoln Highway garage sales are always good, but that's a once a year event and it doesn't require a golf cart. It worked out, because I made money on the sale.

My brother-in-law has some Honda 4-wheelers and I've rode a Foreman 400 that was pretty nice. My first time riding one was rather impressive, as they seem to crawl over and thru just about anything. Trail riding is all that I'm interested in doing, but I think a 4 wheel drive quad would be the way to go vs. a 2 wheel drive. Perhaps I'll shop around for a use one.

Oddly enough, this interest all started out with me looking at e-bikes for hunting. Then it evolved into an all electric dirt bike, which had the same price point as a gas engine 4 stroke 250cc Duel Sport. If the weather would just warm up, I could get outside, shoot my recurve and think about something else.
