Health Insurance

Don't they have insurance agents to help find what fits your needs? Kinda like shopping for home owners, some sort of broker that handles 5-6 different companies.

I'm no help either, hence the lack of reply. Ain't that I don't want to help, I just don't have anything to offer. I'm on my wife's health insurance because what's available through my employer is ridiculously expensive. We pay $75 a month for family. Pays to marry a nurse...

Thanks Jesse and Giles. Yes they do have kind of what you mention Giles but man the phone calls never end. All I want TOO do is look on line, pick a carrier after reviewing their program and cost and if I have questions I call them.

I can't help much here either. We are both on Medicare Supplement insurance through Anthem. Anthem gets the $104 that would be deducted from our SS checks. We pay no other premium. It is decent insurance with reasonable co pays for doctors and RX. The only real beaten we take is for my wife's insulin. That costs us $550 every three months.

Once you endure the pain from having Obongocare, you will never vote for a democrat again. The price for what sounds like good coverage will run you $1100 a month for one person. Then you find out the copays and deductibles are totally outrageous, thousands of $$$$$$ and obamacare pays nothing!

That's only the beginning of your worst nightmare, the IRS sends you a huge bill instead of your refund because you claimed a subsidy and you owe the Premium TAX Credit, Form 8962 because the morons at the Health Insurance Marketplace were three months late sending your your incorrect 1095A after you filed your taxes.

Here's another idea...you don't seem to happy with your job anymore and have a kid at home now. Why not find a job that has good medical coverage and some stability? Sure it might be less on the check, but when you look at the alternative here...

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it. Giles, that is what I have been doing for several months but its tuff TOO find something around home (NEO) but have some iron's in the fire. Was not TOO overly concerned on the insurance until recently with a couple things going on. At least the foster child ( J Man as I call him ) has it through the State.

Update......................

Well I signed up for Health Insurance and then some. Blows me away that with my current employer just for health only was twice as much as I just signed up for. I am not thrilled about the extra financial burden but I have to be realistic about it. I am 55 and seems like I am getting injured of late, have some things at home to think about as well. Little J man ( Joshua that is our now Foster son ) is covered by the state and has probably better coverage, lol. Any way here it the break down for any one interested.

It is through Liberty Health Insurance and I am in a "PPO Group". It slams me for $340.84 a month, they wanted a one time fee of $250.00 on top of it and I told them NO!! They ended up charging me $25.00.

I have the following, now mind you with my current employer I only got health for like $619.90 a month.

Medical.
Prescription
Dental
Vision
Hearing
Death

You can go TOO any Doctor and they cover from "A to Z". Total cost $340.84 a month. I asked about dropping a few of the items covered but you can't because its a "Group PPO". At least we have some security and coverage and God willing if and when I get another job I can drop this and get covered. Not sure what ya all think but as much as I have been looking I feel it is pretty good.

Thanks for everyone's advise and help.

Yes but for example if I get a $200 bill they pay 60% and then through the group it cost me like $20.00 if I understand it and I did take notes.

Riverdude. I know you're looking for another employer so I thought I would offer some advice. Look at the total compensation package before talking salary. If their insurance cost is $600 a month and you think $300 is reasonable add 3,600 to your base salary requirement, if they only offer 2 weeks vacation ask if unpaid time off is allowed and add a week or two salary to your base salary requirement. If their 401k match sucks adjust your salary accordingly. Many companies out there today are cutting benefits or passing them on to the employee. For example say health insurance costs 1,000 a month, the employer paid 800 and the employee 200. But to save themselves money they changed it to 500/500.

Total compensation package my friend.

Thank you for your sound advise Joe. Going TOO send ya a PM.

I work for a health insurance company. As a general rule of thumb, you pay for it in the front end (premiums) or the backend (deductible, copays and coinsurance). One will likely be low/reasonable and the other a bit higher. If they are both high, you're getting jobbed. If they're both low, you are winning at life!
