Helicopter crash

Got a call today, a helicopter helping to do
SeismographIng in our area, crashed on my property. Pilots banged up pretty bad, but was awake and talking as they took him on life flight. Lots of police presence there now. I’m sure there will be a big investigation into what happened to cause the crash.

There will probably be some environmental cleanup in the aftermath as well…. That could get a little dicey, depending on what spilled. AV gas and engine and hydraulic fluids if they were compromised. Pieces and parts can go some distance as well….

Well that's a new one. Hopefully they get the scene understood and the equipment out quick and deer season isn't impacted too much.

It’s funny, as much craziness as there was yesterday on the property, still had deer on camera all night within a 150 yards or the crash

I heard a helicopter flying real low and real close to the back of my property for about an hour Saturday morning. Never could see it. Maybe it was for the same reason?

Any crops back there? They were spraying the cornfields next to our place a couple weeks ago. Helicopter low and slow spraying them….

Just got off phone with sheriff. Said there is almost no leakage from the air craft. The faa investigation is done. No idea how they are going to get that thing out of the woods. Sheriff said they are going to keep some type of security there until it’s all cleaned up.

Depending on the integrity of the airframe, they may just cut it up and haul it away. Falling objects from aircraft are highly discouraged

No idea how pilot survived. With the help of a recovery crew we were able to get the chopper out yesterday.

That maple was a prolific producer of grade A sap.
