Hello everyone, new member back from etar

Don't overthink things and take the fun out of it before you even start. I highly suggest getting in a vehicle and driving around this state. Plenty to offer for everyone. Bring a wife, kid, buddy and make a week of it or long weekend. You can scout deer in the evenings on been fields right now but they will likely be miles away when the season comes in. But it will give you an idea of what is around and the terrain in that area. Cedar point is wonderful for family and kids. The islands are great retreat with a gal during the day. Lots to do up on the lake for any needs. @Gern186 runs a charter if that suits your type of fun. Toleldo, Columbus, Cleveland, cincinnati, Dayton all have tons to offer also beyond the outdoors. Some of the best zoos in the country are here, worlds best amusement park, aquariums are also top notch. Ive heard good things about the museums too, but that ain't my kinda thing so I can't speak for them. I can say that I have lived in many places and I like SW Ohio over the rest of the places I've been and that includes Alaska.

As far as dangers, falling out of a damn tree should be a fear. Treat your gear with Sawyers and dont worry about the bugs. Just hunt after those 2 things are taken care of. As far as your weapon of choice? Trust but verify before every hunt. It's gonna be hot, or it's gonna be cold. Certain parts of the state the wind always blows. Other parts it always swirls and thermals play a bigger roll than wind direction. Scent control is key if expecting anything mature to show up. But the little dumb ones are easy to kill and drag. My fork can't tell the difference either. Go in silent, stay still and enjoy what the state has to offer as the woods wakes up.

Now THATS an inspiring post!! Just like that you got me wanting to bring my wife and daughter... not sure if i want to deal
With any major citys because thats how i grew up and i hate that city gridlock rush hour traffic,,, my whole life i worked a trade where it took 2 to 2.5 hours to drive 38miles but at least an hour of that was to drive 10 miles.... i want to be where 5 cars at a stop sign is rush hour.

But still want to see more and visit some cool places

There is plenty for all. You said flat, so I suggest the western half of the state. The more northern you go that flatter it is. The more we get to know you, the more we can dial in some activities to make it memorable for everyone.
