I like muzzle loaders too. My son has been shooting one well since he was 6 with lighter loads. Having said that, yesterday he shot 6 rounds out of my 12 ga 1100 with no complaints. He actually said the recoil was less than his 20 ga Mossberg, and I think he's right. He liked the 1100 so well I let him carry it yesterday afternoon as we walked around looking for deer.

A MZ is the easiest to control recoil and still maintain effective downrange energy.

However, it is a gun that you will only use for deer hunting

If she is going to hunt away from you she will have to be able to handle the loading procedure. Depending on the gun and the load, not always the easiest process.

A MZ has it's own unique safety concerns, double loading, not seating the load, leaving the ram rod in the barrel, etc.

I think if you want a specific purpose gun a MZ or a 220 or even a 20 ga Ultra slugster would work well for deer.

If you want to change barrels and hunt other game a 1187 in 20 would be my choice.
