Here’s a shooter

First shooter on the property I’ve seen since last year. I know of 1 more shooter that cruises past my property 2-3 times a years during legal light. Gonna hit a few tending grunts tonight over my drip right before sunset to see what I can drum up.

I also asked an old timer in the ‘hood about a swamp monster I saw last year and he said he saw it as well. Always good to know I wasn’t dreaming [emoji23]

all of my activity is still 8:30pm-5:30am. I only have enough land to have 1 blind. Do any of you Guru’s have a suggestion to try to rile em outta bed during shooting hours? I’ve tried all the tricks I know of (grunting, blowing, rattling) and they won’t leave cover until after dark. Thanks for the tips!

Have you tried being quiet? Maybe all that calling is letting them know what's up.

Solid point. I might’ve been too aggressive after my calls seemed to be getting them moving but not into my shooting lanes.

I live on a “highway” of sorts. In between multiple couple hundred acre parcels that the city owns. For some reason they hit my property every day cruising. Maybe I’ll try not calling and see if the calling pushed them to avoid their normal paths.

Thanks for the suggestion Giles!

Do you ever hear them call? Not all deer or deer areas are the same. I hunt some pretty high traffic areas for human pressure. Escape points and being silent is key on those properties.

I’ve been blown at a few times. Rarely hear them call during the day but at night they’re fairly vocal. My daughter and I were stomped at last night when taking out the dog. I’m sure they see us more than we see them - lived here for 3 years and only have kicked up deer once

I can see your garage lights 60 yards away. I would be hunting my yard if I had them deer walking around! I'd have them eating corn out of the back of my truck. Wouldn't have to unload it that way.
