Does it make the noise while at idle or only when the truck is moving?

Only when I'm moving. A joint (not the good kind) of some sort was what I was thinking.

My advice is hammer down on turns and don't stop haha. That's usually what I do when I have a noise. Listening to loud music also eliminates all unwanted sounds.

If it is some sort of front end drive part, do NOT lock it in 4x4 and turn on pavement...you WILL find the weak link and probably have a bit of collateral damage.

I don't know what I was thinking...those are hubs on a 150... Figure out what side it is and order a hub barring assembly. I'm 95% sure that's what it is. Pretty common, go ahead and do some searching.

Hub. Jack up truck and see if there is in/out movement in the wheel, then put crow bar under tire to see if it moves up or down. Any movement and it needs replaced. Before replacing, take off both tires and make sure there is not a stick or something in the front brakes making contact. Rotational noises can be a real biatch to diagnose. While ya got the wheels up, give everything a spin.

I'd agree with the hub as well.... If you have some close building that you can drive between, roll each individual widow down and listen for it.... It'll also give you an indication of the side that's doing it....

Pick up a spare at your local junk yard.
Check for a piece of gravel stuck in the tire tread first.
If not, Sounds like a front axle u joint or hub bearing to me. If not corrected, you"ll find out real soon what it is.

Not necessarily. I agree that is more than likely a hub.

My ford ate hubs. Not a once did it click, it would always grind and growl. I hade to replace one side a year, most years.

Just run it, it will eventually show its self.

This is a definite click. Almost sounds like you have something wrapped on the drive shafts that's hitting every rotation.

For a bad Hub use a laser thermometer to tell which one gets hotter.. Just run it and scan the wheels.

Does the front drive shaft rotate without he transfer case engaged???

I guess jacking it up and rotating the tires would show if it did or not....

Taking a large screwdriver, putting it between the yoke and torquing it back and forth will show any play in the u joints as well....m

Hubs will make a growling sound while driving as well. As stated before if you grab at the top and bottom of the tire and try to push and pull it. Does it make this noise on turns as well?
