What’s everyone’s hit list? What’s the criteria for you to want to fill a tag? I’m lucky enough to be able to hunt older deer so that’s number one criteria for me. Big deer are awesome, but they usually only get that way if they are older. Couple on the list.

140 inches is the number in my head. Mid to upper 130s is not a deal breaker if the buck is at least 4 years old and I don’t have a great target buck. My place seems to only hold less than 140” bucks. I’m not opposed to late season cull bucks and there seems to be plenty of those this year.

I'm on the fence right now. I have some good deer to hunt, but none bigger score-wise than my best, so I have to decide what matters most this year. I'm on a roll after going back-to-back-to-back on 4.5, 3.5, and 5.5-year-old deer, respectively. Last year's pushed my personal best score to 149", which bumped me up 10" from my previous best and got me over the 140 hump that haunted me for 21 seasons. The best deer I have are at our house, which I've all but stopped hunting now that my girls are hunting. I feel like those bucks are theirs and I'm diminishing their chances if I kill one. That said, if Kaydence kills one early, there are 3 bucks that are definite shooters for me, so I may come in and bat cleanup! Our farm gets better each day as bucks disperse to their home ranges and start looking for love. I really feel like it'll be a "heat of the moment" thing. This buck needs 1-2 years, but if he gives me a slam dunk shot in the middle of a good hunt, I'm not sure I'll hold off. Too many other hunters in the neighborhood to trust that he'll make it.

Wow good topic, but even more so for me. I’m struggling on deciding what I want to possibly hunt for. Last year was my worst year as I hunted for something that either didn’t exist or never had the opportunity. This was in most parts because my boys were handling up on kills and if I killed, we didn’t need the meat and I’d be killing just to say I did. So I opted out for a giant or nothing and we all know where that usually gets us.
I have a definite shooter, as of age and not antlers. Another was a freak that we’ve only gotten pics of a few times. Those two bucks haven’t showed up on cams yet and the cams have only been out 10 days so there’s hope. I do have a buck that Hunter has determined what buck he was last year. It was the wanna be 9, 15” w some mass that we figured to be 3.5 yrs old. Recently this buck showed up w 10 points and a nub in the making of 11. Clearly over 130 where most of our good bucks are in the mid to high 120’s. Our deer typically don’t score well but carry a lot of mass.

I don't care to fill a buck tag or not. I ate it last year. I will load up a few deer for the freezer though. I will kill whatever buck feels right. Could be a spike, could be another taxi bill. I have a good felling about this year though. I'm due for a good one. It would be the cherry on top of I do it with my old man's bow.

I’ll let the cat out of the bag… this will be my #1 for the year probably. Think he will squeak over 155! This is my dream buck. Main frame 8 with just about everything. Height, width, age and decent mass!

^ that's a dandy for sure Jesse.

No local big boys on the farm this year (so far) as I'm not baiting so I'm pushing back the hunt to overlap the rut- haven't hunted the rut with a buck tag for a couple years so I'm looking forward to it. If it's body looks mature and it's >= P&Y 125 net it'll be gametime. Other than that I plan to reap some meat from big ol'gurls that have been fattening up very well on my plots. Timing seems like I'll be buck hunting the rut and back later in the season for the girls.
