What kind of tree is this? What is that app called that identifies these things? I forget. View attachment 194555
I'd have to see more of the tree but that's highly possible. If you break the branch does it stink? Kinda hard to kill and will send up sucker's from the base if you leave the stump in the ground.
It's between the driveways by my dumpster. Seems to be really trying to take over with a bunch of shoots. I'll be sure to water it with gly after I cut it. ThanksIt's definitely Alianthus aka Tree of Heaven. If it's small you can foliar spray it, otherwise mature trees should he kill via hack and squirt method if they are not in danger of falling over a building or trail. A good app you can use is called Picture This. I've found it to be the best.

Main one is maybe 25' tall and 8-10" diameter. I didn't look real close. How big is it?
It will likely root sprout if cut even with herbicide. They are known for this. So just be prepared.Main one is maybe 25' tall and 8-10" diameter. I didn't look real close.
I'm pretty stubborn myself and I don't plan on letting up until I get my way. I'll start with scoring a ring and treating it every couple of weeks until I see the results. Then I'll drop it after it's dead. Drink beer over it's dead burning carcass. Because I can.It will likely root sprout if cut even with herbicide. They are known for this. So just be prepared.
The main trunk itself will die back, its the sprouts that it sends up across its root system to watch out for. We use hack and squirt method as it kills it more gradually and doesn't send it into "shock". The fact of the matter is even when done by the book, Tree of Heaven will often send up root sucker's once touched.I'm pretty stubborn myself and I don't plan on letting up until I get my way. There are a lot of chemicals that will work. The most readily available is a slightly diluted glyphosate mixture (with water). Avoid spring time for best results.A few years ago I had a state Forrester walk my property. I have several Ailanthus trees, one that is probably the biggest one I've ever seen at about 24". He told me do not cut them down, but instead girdle them and put some particular herbicide/stump killer type of stuff or they will throw up suckers like crazy. I don't remember what the chemical was called.
One of us mustve already pissed the root system off. Because it kinda went crazy already. I want to get it under control while I can.The main trunk itself will die back, its the sprouts that it sends up across its root system to watch out for. Those may also be seedlings. Try pulling them up by hand after this rain. If the root pulls out with them then they are likely seedlings. If it breaks off when gently pulled, then likely root sprouts. One of us mustve already pissed the root system off. Because it kinda went crazy already. I want to get it under control while I can.
You are the man! Thanks. Those may also be seedlings. Try pulling them up by hand after this rain. If the root pulls out with them then they are likely seedlings. If it breaks off when gently pulled, then likely stump sprouts.
Most all problems in our natural world are traced back to mankind. We create the problems then act like disciples when we try to solve the problems we created. Much like our government. You are the man! Thanks.
Guessing it started by a ride in from the trash truck. Crazy that I notice the route things take now that I'm aware. Water systems, road systems and train tracks aren't just easy ways for humans to travel. Lol
