Hope this doesn't turn into another Centralia

Couldn’t open your link, Clay. So found another one.

It’ll be interesting following along with this to see how it goes. Speculation is it has been burning for a hundred years…..

Sorry about that I posted the wrong link, it has been an issue off and on for years, but you would think if it was burning for a 100 years there would more issues. I just hope they do more then dump a 1,000 gallons of water and some foam on it.

I use to bear hunt with hounds around Burnwell, WV. On top of one of the ridges, the burning coal smoke billowed out of cracks in the ground. One of the side trails completely caved in over the years. One fellow lost a good dog when it fell in a crack. I asked my hunting partner that was from and mined the area what they would do about the fire, he said, “Let it burn, been like that for years.”

There was a show or segment about a small town that became desolate and partially destroyed on the show UnExplained hosted by William Shatner during its first season run. I believe it was somewhere in PA fit to the exact thing.

Haha, it was Centralia Pa, I just looked it up. DUH🤦🏻‍♂️

That was a great show regardless filled with some incredible stories. The shows about the Mayans, coral castle, spire built by one man were just a few.

I’ve got relatives back in the Scranton Pa area and when I was a kid they had a coal fire in an old mine. They pumped water on it for a long while but eventually they just let it burn itself out.
