How high can a deer jump….

My wife and I are debating how high a deer can jump from a stand still. I’m building a fence around her garden but I don’t want it to look like Auschwitz. We have small yards on either side and I’ve never seen them get a running start to jump our current fence. Maybe because they don’t have to. When they jump over it (4ft) from a stand still, they leave only inches to spare. Not sure if that’s by design.

They probably only jump as high as they need to, given what fence. We had a local applee orchard nearby years ago that had what looked like an 8 ft fence.
