Good luck fellas! Jon, how many have 5th & 6th grade programs in the area now? Used to be only Norwalk and Ohio Dogs, but Bunge (J. Schaeffer)'s boy in 5th at Perkins is on a team, 1st year for Perkins.

First scrimmage against Bucyrus was yesterday evening. 8th grade team looked like a new team. Amazing what 1yr of growth and experience does. Ty played well, scoring with a TD reception at HB again this year, and a couple tackles at new CB position on D. He finally has some speed and open field tackling vs. fill tackling as a S is a better fit I agree with.

7th grade team brought numbers, size, and athletes! It was complete domination and they are going to be fun to watch I think. Myles is playing RB and ILB, but is 2-3 on the depth chart at both. Missing 2 practices due to fair last week hurt him. There was fear, hesitation and lack of effort. His attempt to make excuses about lack of opportunities were quickly squashed as I played 5 videos in a row from my phone and explaining how video can't lie. I reminded him he's no different than everyone else starting out, but he has some self discovery to do and the best thing I can tell him is it's 100% in his control. No matter how this season goes, quitting is not an option, so dig deep, find some heart & learn to channel that anger appropriately. Time will tell, but my heart breaks for this guy right now.

Ty #41
Myles #4

Myles came home with a big ol smile on his face after yesterdays practice. He has discovered his path of repetition and growth on Scout Team D as ILB. We talked about how that's the golden ticket to get better, show coaches his improvement thru the season, and to get some payback when necessary. I pulled up the following Rudy scene. Every play.Every down.Dont stop till that whistle blows🤘

Great opener by all 3 Edison teams this week. MS played Tiffin yesterday and HS played Firelands tonight.7th grade put up a solid 14-0 win, 8th grade lost a tough 18-6. HS put up a dominating 42-6 victory tonight.

7th grade looked great. The big fellas dominated the line, the couple of stud athletes pulled their weight the first 3.5 qtrs., and Myles enjoyed lots of time the end of 3rd and all of 4th qtr. at ILB making a couple of tackles. Some home film review still showed his hesitation to engage like he should, but also progress over the scrimmage last week. Unbeknownst to me, he reached out to coach today to ask what he needs to do to get more playing time on O. Love it, but not the right time and/or avenue given he's the MS principal and today was orientation🤦‍♂️. A good discussion with him, didnt fault him for trying lol.

8th grade was in a battle at 6-6 until the end of the 3rd qtr when the starting QB got sacked and injured. Things went downhill the rest of the game with careless mistakes giving up 2 more scores to open it up for Tiffin. Ty played well, couple dumb mistakes but they were aggressive in nature and we will work on it.

HS dominated tonight. Lots of freshman playing the last qtr and half, time under the Friday lights that will only strengthen them to help deeper this season.

Week 2 brought Perkins to town. 7th grade handed them a dominating win, with Myles getting playing time on both sides of the ball in th 3rd and 4th qtr. He showed a little more aggression and came home smiling. 8th grade got stomped, similar to last year. Perkins has a stud of a player and Ty had to cover him. It was a great wake up call for him and while beaten and bruised, he too came home smiling knowing he held his own. Unfortunately one our starting RBs/ILBs took a lick from him and ended up with a compound fractured arm, it was nasty😔. So after 2wks, 8th grade lost their starting QB/CB, and a starting RB/ILB.

Week 3 brought Vermilion to town. 7th grade again dished out a dominating win, 38-0. Myles again got a lot of playing time, this time coming away with a couple of tackles at ILB and running in a 2pt conversion. He's looking good at the FB position, just got to get him to get the legs going again after initial contact. 8th grade played well and came home with their first win of the season 36-12. Ty is showing his speed and aggression finally. Now just need him to stack on 20lbs. to be able to finish tackles by himself. He is learning to breakdown and be under control for open field tackles, but needs help feom his buddies to finish the job😁.
