What about panty hose??? Years ago it was known that panty hose kept your ass warm...

They would somewhat as they're made of nylon which has insulating properties. Years ago i also remember guys wearing pantyhose as a base layer long before base layers were cool. The thermal advantages of something as simple as a thin nylon hose was known back in the day before tights, or specifically fleece lined tights ever became popular.

Fleece lined tights are usually a blend of a much heavier weight nylon and spandex fabric with a fleece inner lining of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

That's my go to along with a couple of isometric stretches. I actually climbed down on Tuesday to piss, do squats, stretch and climbed back up. It saved my day.

The ones without feet. They are made out of the same material as most base layers design for hunting but they have the added benefit of a thin layer of fleece on the inside. You can pick up a pair for 10 bucks at Walmart which is about 1/5th of the cost of a base later from any of these hunting stores.

The arctic shield boot warmers do work. In the really cold single digit season stuff some hand warmer packs in there on top of the boot. Toasty

+1 on this. I've used them for years. The key thing is to put them on early before your free catch a chill. They work very well.

Same here. My entire body can be covered and warm, yet my feet, particularly toes and bottom of feet, will get cold as a mofo. It's bareable... I mean, it obviously doesn't stop me from hunting, but it's just flat out annoying. It's weird for me because I typically have really good circulation. Most times I duck hunt in frigid conditions I don't even bother with gloves... Even when pulling decoys. My hands are built Ford tough but my feet are soft like GMC (gay man's Chevy). Lol

I'm this way with my giant ears, if its 59 degrees out, I have to wear a alpaca wool hat, but I go bunny hunting with old timers whens its -5 and they have a old kenton coon dog trail snap back on and their ears are bright purple! no idea how they do it

Brock and Dan are correct about pro athletes wearing panty hose and as Joe said nylon tends to keep warmth in.. Been thinking about ticks and pantyhose.. Wonder if it would help with those bastards? Brian brought up a good point about a scarf keeping body heat in, esp. with a safety harness attached TOO a tree. I'm 6' 3" and find it hard getting any clothing in Tall Lenghts, mainly shirts and long underwear. Worst thing is having that breeze of cold air going up your back after your clothes work out of your pants. I'd hate to be Sasquatch.
But back to the original topic...... You should see all the garbage I bring on a trip. Everyone makes fun of me until its time they need something. Before they run off to Walmart their famous last words are. Ask Rich, whether it be extra socks,knife,flannel shirt,Advil you name it I usually bring two or three... LOL

In selecting layering and outerwear, windproof lining is a real lifesaver. Predator Camo makes some really nice garments that are windproof/wind-resistant. A good fleece vest with a high collar is one of the most useful garments I own. On its own it's enough to keep warm in that "not cold but not warm" temperature range. And when it's chilly it's a hell of a mid layer. If Predator made a heated version, I'd pay a ridiculous amount of money for one.

The high collar is great for retaining warmth in the neck area. Where I'm currently sitting, it's mid-40's and I've got a 10-15 mph cold north wind blowing right in my face. Warm and toasty.

I picked up an Ozark Trail 36 Oz screw top insulated bottle today. I plan to do a lot of all day sits next week and a big bottle of something like a hot soup will go a long way. I already have a big thermos that I plan to fill with either hot apple cider or coffee.

I was concerned that the bottle wouldn't do so well with hot items because it does say water bottle on it. But double wall vacuum sealed is the same technology used in there other items like cups. I flipped the water cooler at work over to the hot setting and filled it about three 3/4 way with scalding hot water and put it in the top rack of the refrigerator. 4 hours later it was still hot enough to scald the shit out of me when I poured some over my fingers to check the temperature.

9 bucks at wally world. gonna need to wrap some camo tape on this bitch though

I generally don't take my 36oz Ozark Trail because it's just a bit too big for my packing preferences. But it does great with ice water or tea in the summer on long road trips.

I thought about the packability issue but a 11 oz can of Campbell's chicken noodle plus the 11 oz can of water is 22 oz. I'm a greedy bastard and wasn't going to leave a third of my lunch at home. Lol.

Was just at the bow shop getting a few new nockturnals and a portable phone charger caught my eye... looked at it for a couple of minutes thinking it might be nice to have for days like today... then i remembered i have an even better one at home.
I have a milwaukee heated jacket (ya im a puss) that has a 12v 2.0ah battery. It came with an adapter with a usb port for charging a phone while in yoir pocket. I guess i will have to start packing that with me to.
By the way i would highly recomend one of those jackets to anyone they are the cats ass. Just wish my wife would have got the camo one...

If it's like the Wildgame rangefinder I got for a Christmas gift one year, it'll work about a year and take a dump.

So I spent $40 on my hobby today. That's like a dinner out with the wife.
I know people who spend that on lotto tickets every other week.
