Hunting in the Rain: Ethical?

Vague at best. So if there is a puddle of standing water after a rain you can't shoot a deer standing in it?

I would say common sense would come into play here. But then on the other hand there isn't much common sense out there anymore.

FWIW...buddy shot a doe last night. Called for me to help find her, nothing. Guess he is going out this morning to look too. They found two blood spots on some leaves. Quartered away, stomach contents on the arrow. Told him its best to leave her go the rest of the night and look in the day light insteado f pushing her. We will see if he finds her. Rain washed away most of the blood if there was any at all. Sounded like stomach and liver to me.

Common sense would also wonder why I have to wear a seatbelt in a truck but not a helmet on a motorcycle. Bet I still get a ticket. lol

Wow that's just wrong. Odnr gets a lot of stuff right but can't say I agree with this.

Iam not a big fan of bow hunting in this nasty weather. However, like my brother said. If my days of vacation are limited, I will hunt in almost any kind of weather. Once, about 15 years ago I was hunting an oak flat with deer in a breeding frenzy. Bucks grunting, chasing does and a big black cloud heading my way. I did my damnest TOO stay put. Mother nature just wouldn't have it. By the time I got to the base of my tree, the wind shear was so great that it was hard to even stand up! By the time I got to my truck a funnel cloud had touched down on the property next to me. My point being, those deer were still doing their thing. The rut is the most exciting time of the season. Rain or not!
It seems somewhat hypocritical for me to be posting in this thread, seeing as I just lost a deer yesterday. The one thing I can say is that I had a light mist almost all day and night after I shot him, and still had blood in spots. The problem I ran into was the neighbors cattle walk through the same area 3-4 times a day, and destroy everything in their path. Which means that the blood trail that I had was no more. I will still hunt if it is just a light mist or drizzle.....high winds and a downpour are entirely different.
And the rule of not shooting a deer in standing water is just another stupid rule that is not defined correctly by ODNR.
