Hunting in this heat

I hunted yesterday afternoon till 7 PM and got skunked. The moon was straight overhead when I descended from my stand last night. I didn't anticipate seeing much with the temp at 79 degrees when I was climbing up into my stand but just wanted to get out. I prolly won't hunt again till this weekend. Like Carpn said, no sense in taking risks, spreading scent and jumping deer and alerting the deer of my presence when the best hunting is just around the corner.

I will avoid it personally. IM looking for quality time in the stand. I would rather save the stands for days that is better for deer movement and keep pressure and needless scent to a minimum.

My Dad has been out all week. So far in 4 days he's seen a doe and an 8 point. The deer are moving after dark.
The best bet is the last 15 minutes of daylight. Warm weather snuffs out hunting activity.

I saw on FB this morning that Dave Lusk said it shut things down at Southern Ohio Outfitters. They have been having a great couple weeks and then it flat stopped...

Best plan you could conjure, Cotty! I'm not going to waste my time until it cools off. There was some talk of the October Lull earlier, this heat is what causes it imo. They will bust loose this weekend with the cooler temps coming. I will be there Sunday morning waiting to see 'em., and Monday, and Tuesday.... etc.
