Hunting Lease/Permission Opportunities

Hello,
I am a longtime lurker first time poster. I am a student at Ohio Northern here in Ada (Hardin County) who has recently gotten back into archery hunting. I am trying to find land to deer hunt and I figured I would start here.. Being a student I do not have much money to pay for a lease but I would be willing to work some hours in order to hunt. I hunted for a long time with my grandfather in Wisconsin, and after taking some time away after his passing am looking to get back into it. If anyone has any leads, or would suggest some public land near me I would be extremely grateful. Thank you.

I work right down the road in northern Hardin county, private will be really difficult to obtain, Hardin County was home to the National Coon Dog Trials and has a rich culture of hunting , I would suggest some of the public land - Big Island or Killdeer

Welcome and thanks for posting. Glad to have you active. Leasing is going to cost you a pretty penny. The old knock on doors and scout private is your best bet. Also, try to network with people you know or put yourself in position to get to know people with land.

Coffee shop/cafe for breakfast. Every day. Not a yuppie place, a little country dive. Become part of the community. Talk to people eating eggs beside you. You’re going to eat anyway, might as well do it where the local landowners are. My son and his buddy Caleb do this all the time. It didn’t start out as an access gaining venture, they just like to sit around and tell lies every morning but those two have more land to hunt than you can imagine. They are local kids and due to my business as well as Caleb’s dad being a local farmer they already have a lot of places to go, but the amount of invites they have received by talking world events and corn prices is staggering.

Yeah and another thing... when you do strike up a conversation with someone in the diner... don’t asks a question and walk away from the answer for four or five days. That’s bad form.
