I decided last night that I wanted to bring Greyson to our best spot. Every night I've sat there I've had deer, mostly young bucks, all over me. We've tried for 3 years now to get him a deer with the xbow. First one reason or another it just never lined up for us. So I had a good idea to fight would give us a great chance. We got all set up in a tangle of scrub brush and weeds just down from my stand. I kept telling him he had to be ready at any time because they get on you fast in this spot. We didnt see crap, which is rare for this spot. So with a fee minutes left, he was ready. I double checked and positive I seen nothing coming, packed up his field pod and the backpack and picked up the xbow. As I started to take the arrow off, he whispers "daddy daddy ". Sure as shit this deer is on us quick. I tried to set of the field pod but to no avail. This deer stops broadside at 25 yards. So he shoulders the bow as I held up the end. I asked him if he had s shot. He says "yea!" Shoot him. And did he ever. That familiar "whomp" and mule kick was a great sight. He ran about 50 yards and piled up within sight. Just a tremendous feeling. He thought it was a doe until I told him it was a buck. Then he got really pumped. This is s 2.5 year old deer believe it or not. I had him under me Saturday night and told Nate he was the biggest forkhorn I ever seen. Told him that night he was a 2.5 year old 4 point. A perfect deer for us nonetheless. Thanks to all you guys for sharing the kind words. Greyson read all of them
