To say that this season has been a struggle is an understatement! We got a picture of a absolute brute for our area early on and we pounded it in hopes of Andrew nailing him. We even hit a stretch in Nov.when we hunted about 14 straight days. I believe that last night's sit was over 50+ for Andrew and that is just incredible for a 9 yr old. Those hunts were all him and I've never "made" him go. I had it bad growing up but I certainly have met my match with this boy, lol.
The deer that we we're after was shot on Thursday during gun week by a neighbor and to make matters worse it was about 300 yds away from where we were and we heard the shot ! It just let the wind out of our sails and we were super bummed! That deer had a 21" spread!
Last night the buck that Andrew killed was the 3rd buck we saw and based on cameras he was the biggest in the area lately. Andrew made a 40 yd free hand shot because he couldn't use his rest due to angle. He said that he thought that he hit him a little back and he was correct. The arrow hit the liver and caught one lung. We bumped him twice last night and decided to back off.
My dad and I went in there this am and found him dead about 50 yds from where we had stopped! I'm so proud of Andrew ' s effort and happy that all his time finally paid off! This is Andrew ' s 9th deer in four seasons!
Well I live in no man's land and only have satellite Internet here folks....it took about an hr to just put that together, and I had to get 2 kids from two different schools, show it off and then get pics..... sorry it took so long........
