Sorry guys, it was me. Fugg, so much work afterwards couldn't text or do much! Dragged his dead ass 100 yards down next to the creek to gut him and another 100 yards in the rain to load him up. Then got him home and checked in over the phone and hung in a tree beside the house. Got him a good 5 ft off the ground which was another long ordeal. I sent a bunch of pics to my PC and just have to download them to photobucket and on to TOO.
Quick story to catch you all up.
Saw the doe at 8:32 and started grunting on my tube shortly afterwards every 15-20 minutes. After my 3 grunting secession at about 9:20 I thought I'd check in on TOO off my phone and see how Taylor and rest of the other guys were doing. I looked up right about 9:30 in the direction of where the doe went which was straight downwind and saw this buck coming right towards me at about 45 yards and closing fast. I might have grunted this one in by the way he would stops a second and look around before entering my shooting lane. I had about 20 seconds to size him up and decide on shooting or not and once he neared my shooting lane I was in kill mode and concentrating on the sweet spot. He paused at 25 yards in the middle of my shooting lane and I made a perfect shot as far as mechanics and arrow placement. I center punched him with a double lung shot and he ran down the wooded bank about 30 yards and tipped over not 12-15 seconds after the shot. Talk about fired up!
I always wanted to kill a good deer on Halloween and never had been able to hunt much on this particular day. I went out his morning on just 3 hours sleep and Lady Luck was on my side. Got to bed at 4 am and set my alarm for 7, got a shower and was in my stand at 8:15. He came thru 1.25 hours later....and wham! Just goes to show you that as long as your in the stand during this time of the season anything can happen. I'll post pics and my entire story later, prolly late this evening after a family function tonight.
Goodluck to all TOOzers, it only takes a minute of good to wipe away hours of bad!
