Thanks fellas!
I have to say, that Marlin is a 16", "Trapper" model. I shoot the Hornady Lever evolution 225 gr. FTX
It is Absolute on the smack down. Buckhorn style Iron sights like my boyhood 22. It is drilled an tapped. I've put a scope on an off a couple of seasons but it always felt wrong an it needed to be with-out a scope. (as its been since 2017)
Muzzle is 1,410fps/1,240 fps @ 50 yards/ 1,111fps @100yd.
I've never tried it on deer beyond 50 yards and have Seen em all drop within sight on a "dead on the hoof" run.
Use the 44 SPE on woodchucks and other undesirables...
The gun was a gift from a dear friend now passed on because he felt I needed a rifle to match my Ruger Redhawk. He said I needed to kill a deer with it when he handed it to me. I promised I would. It was another 12+ years before Ohio opened up rifle in 2014-2015. In 2017 I bought a box of the Horandy shells (20ea.) Papered 3 rounds and have been killing deer 1 for 1 ever since. Some crashed where they stood, the furthest went 40 yards.
I call it "The Miller"
