When I walked up on the big guy, what a feeling, how could it get any better. Well it is getting better, by being recognized by my piers. It makes a special hunt even more special. Thanks again to everyone!

Makes me feel good to read this because I agree 100%. We have a great place here and I am glad you found us. If not, we wouldn't be privileged to share in your hunt with you. That is a great buck and the write up was fantastic! I felt the anticipation along the way. I chuckled when you said 'dad don't text or talk well on the phone'. Brought a different kind of smile to my face when you shared how you take your hunts to him now. You are a good man to keep his hunting spirit going. I am jealous because my dad is not a hunter. You are fortunate and sound like you do your best to keep his 91yr old self trying to feel young. Good for you Griz!

I just read your story, Griz, and what a great story it is! Congratulations on a fine deer! I'm sure your dad enjoyed hearing the story and sharing in the hunt with you as best he could. When the body won't travel, it's a blessing the mind still can!

One of the best hunting stories I've read this year! I can feel the excitement through your words. This is what hunting whitetails is all about, making friends, making mistakes, working through adversity and the reward is worth all the effort in the end. I admire your effort to keep your dad involved. I hope if I am blessed to live a full life like your dad that I will have my son there for me when the time comes, just as you are there for yours. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us!

The 60 day drying period was over on Jan 6th so I made an appointment with a P&Y scorer to get my rack scored. I got the results last night. Gross score was 161 7/8, Net score after deducts was 156 6/8. He made Pope & Young easy and just miss out on a Booner by 3+ inches. Either way he was my biggest by far and I could not be happier. Looking forward on getting the mount back in Nov. Will post pics when I do. November can't get here quick enough not just because of the mount but I will also be headed back to the great state of Ohio.

Wow that's a great score Griz! I knew he was going to score well when you first sent me a picture. Congrats again and I TOO can't wait until November to get back to Ohio.

That's awesome Griz! He's pretty dang symmetrical to have about 5" of deductions for as much bone he carried. He'll give you many years of enjoyment when you look up at him and relive that special day.
