Illuminated Optics

30+ years ago there was a device that was like a fiber optic that would shine on the crosshairs inside the eyepiece of the scope, so that they would reflect the typical gold color of the crosshairs, instead of their standard black. Technology has changed, thus, there are scopes with illuminated crosshairs, Night Vision and Thermal scopes.

I'm looking into purchasing something like a TruGlo Brite 30 Series 3-9x42. This would get the job done for a low cost and 90% of the shots are going to be well inside 50 yards. I'll be mounting this on a Savage 17HMR.

Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated, towards this scope or another and perhaps better option. 🤔

Check out Primary Arms. They always get great reviews and reasonably priced. I have so many of their products and I think they are great. They aren't for optic snobs, but if you want something reasonable or need to put optics on several guns, I think they are the way to go. They have a lot of options.

I ended up buying a Sig Sauer Whiskey 3 in a 4-12x50. I really like how extremely small the red dot illumination can be turned down to almost nothing. This will work out great for night time hunting applications. 👍 I just got home from the rifle range and sighted it in at 50 yards and this machine is shooting 3/16" groups at this distance. 💯 I'm using CCI ammo with 17 gr. bullets, rated at 2550 fps and with the suppressor it's fun to shoot.
