Iowa Bans Cell Cameras

Apparently on public land AND private. Effective today, June 5. Private sounds like it might be while in pursuit of animals but....it sure sounds like some clarification of the law will need to come out before long. If it is true in any way this could be big in the world of using electronics, especially on public land.

No way will there even be an attempt to ban on private, if it is true that will get struck down and considered unconstitutional. Public land I think its great wish they would do it in Ohio on public.

Never thought of that. Definitely will be interesting to see how it is all put down in writing what the actual law(s) is for them.

They talk about videoing hunts some in the podcast. Basically it isn't an aid to hunting, only capturing the footage as it happens. Where the idea of using a cell cam to go hunt a spot based on a new picture or video sent to you aids you in hunting the animal. That was how they put it anyway.

I just don’t like trail cams on state land because they add multiple layers of b.s. Hunters use them to claim areas (sometimes even putting cameras that don’t work to deter), used to monitor other hunters and not actual wildlife, concern that my boys or my dick will end up on someone’s well hidden trail camera/smart phone and a single guy running multiple cameras on a single concentrated tract. I actually don’t mind dudes using a single camera to scout deer lol

It's public... how do they "claim" public land?

why did this level of entitlement or idiocy not surprise me about deer hunters....

Dan Infalt and the others talk about that in the podcast. Guys flooding an area with trail cameras, especially cell cams, to give the impression the area is claimed or at least over hunted so people go elsewhere. I was always that way, if I ran across a trail camera or treestand I would move off to another area.
