Carissa has not been able to hunt much lately because of a young family and work. She tries to give her husband those opportunities. They have had a buck using their food plot by the house for the past 2 years. He went from 75” to 134” (ask me how I know). Erik didn’t want to kill it but knew the neighbors would for sure so he watched the kids yesterday evening while Sis went to an old hay shed in the plot…the same shed she killed her state record gobbler from. Just like clockwork it came in before dark. After the shot it ran into the woods about 5 yards and stood there until dark. She said it was wobbly and flicking its tail. We assumed a liver shot and knew to leave it overnight, even though heavy rains were coming. At daylight we went looking. One inch of rain had washed away all blood but after about 45 minutes she found it in the nastiest thicket you can find. I’m one happy dad again!
