Jesse's 2015 Pics & Videos

Jesse, back in 2003 I shot a buck very similar to that during gun season. Everytime I see the antlers in my pile I regret not getting that buck mounted. He would've scored better than all but 2 of my mounts. Like a dummy, I thought he was too odd to mount. If I had to do it all over again I'd shoot him and mount him.
Moral of the story, I hope you get a crack at that goofy bastard! Then hang him on the wall.

All you need is a good cape. Its not to late.

My nephew has mounted quite a few racks for guys and 1 for me where he had to find capes. It's a crapshoot on what you'll pay for a mature buck cape though. He ccalls his clients telling them how much he can get one for before he does it. I imagine most Taxi's would do the same. Some bigger taxi's may have some due to people dropping off deer with capes and only getting Euro mounts

My buddy buys them for $25 from the local butcher. 22-23" capes.

Jesse your paradise food plot motivated me to try a "in the woods plot" and I cut down 5 small black walnuts on a south east facing ridge top and planted forage oats, spring oats and some left over rape, turnip and radish seed. She sprouted nicely and I'm looking forward to hunting this plot! Its roughly 30 yards wide and 60 yards long (but very odd shaped). On the edges I hinge cut a few trees and laid them horizontally down softly. This should really help the deer feel secluded when feeding. I also left a dogwood standing in the middle of the plot, hoping it will get a scrape under its low hanging branches. When the loggers are here in December I'm hoping they will drop a few of the bigger walnuts around this plot and push all the stumps out.
