Kidney stones

That camera looks like the same one they use to remove the sent.....not fun! Wide awake when that goes in and the sent comes out.
Yeh... Definately not fun... See wire along it? If they find any polyps they zap them away with electricity...

My wife was a nurse, most of the doctors she worked with said the same things about kidney stones. Some people are just genetically prone to them and others get them from their diet. The ones who’s diet contributed to them? The culprit was soda and energy drinks. They told my kids that if you’re getting kidney stones, stop drinking anything that has a “fizz” to it. Basically anything that fizzes when you open it.
They quit the energy and soda drinks and didn’t have anymore issues….. That is until they started them again years later as adults…..

I think I’m finally done with it. On the 19th I had lipotripsy to bust up the stone and a stent was inserted to help things flow. A few days later an X-ray showed some fragments were still there. Last Tuesday they put me out and went in and pulled the stent and remaining pieces out and put a new stent in. Today i had the 2nd stent removed. The whole time the stent was in I had pressure in my belly and if I did more than minimal walking I’d have blood in my urine.
I was fortunate that I had very little real pain other than the first day. But I went under anesthesia twice and lots of visits to Dr offices and the hospital. I hope it’s another 60 years till the next stone🙃

FYI here’s what the Dr gave me on good and bad things for stones.

I used to get stones about every 5 years, then 3 years then finally I’d get one every 18 months. After the last one had to be removed and a stent placed/removed, the doctor put me on Allopurinol. Every year I get a cat scan of my kidneys and they’ve come up negative. I told the doctor if we ever find another one, I’m going to have surgery to remove it before the pain starts…because once the pain starts, it takes around three weeks before I can get scheduled for surgery due to the backlog. Ive been overdue for a stone but still don’t have one yet (knock on wood). I believe it’s the Allopurinol that’s making the difference. My next check up is in the fall.

All done. Clean and ready for 4 more months... Sitting on the table I took a pic of the thing they insert in your penis... Figured I'd show you in case you ever had to have it done... Usually most get put to sleep, however I opt to stay awake... Not that I'm a macho man, but because if sedated someone has to bring you.. I hate to be a PIA...

I was awake for this stent to be removed. It was one where they send a camera with a grabber to to pull it out. I guess some have a string so you can pull it out. Needless to say this wasn't the most pleasant feeling I've ever had down there. 😬
