Kind of funny story, but got me thinkin....

I agree with Hicks.... I bet if you asked about it and told the truth, he just may share the photo. If he won't share it, you know it's a slob buck for sure! You did do the right thing!

He didn't say delete the card, or leave the cam turned off, or steal the card. If you popped it in a viewer or a laptop you had with you and put it back like you found it, I don't see any harm in looking at the pics. No harm no foul.

If I walked in the woods to check my cam and saw some stranger pulling my card there would be some serious problems.

That's exactly what he was saying when he saw the rub and made the comment. Trust me I have dealt with thieves for to many years to join their ranks.

I guess to me what was funny was his reaction to knowing that 10 feet away was proof of what made the rub and he was trying his hardest to convince himself it was ok to check that card. While it did cross my mind, I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's better for everyone to turn around and walk away. Especially when we have 2 cams on the other side. I just hope the same is done if those are walked up on......

I'd say messing with the stuff of one of the other people who has permission is a sure fired way to get yourself booted off the property. Just because the rub is there doesn't mean that buck is showing up in the daylight either and likely will benefit you guys the more this guy hunts his well baited stand.

Oh, I am sure I will see the pics if I ask him. Even if it is a big buck because most likely it will be on his 4 wheeler opening day! Haha

I'm just trying to figure out what the harm is. You're not hurting anything. Its not like he's going to miss pictures of anything but you. You're already there. It's not like you set out every Saturday to run his camera. And you both hunt on the same property. As long as you leave it like you found it I'm just not seeing any harm in it.

The way I looked at it was, it's not mine. While I would loooooove to see the buck that made the rub, I would rather it be on my cam and not his. He put it there, he hunts there all year, kinda like he staked his claim.

I have my own property, he doesn't. He is closer to the corn, we haven't been getting any pics and decided to run 2 cams in this piece. I guess it boils down to feeling ok with it, and I wasn't.

You are pretty much word for word on the conversation we had on the way home Jack! Haha, my buddy said,"turn the flippin truck around, I can't take it!" Haha

I get where you are coming from. I wouldn't have checked either. Just because you share an apartment with a girl doesn't give you free reign to look through her panty drawer...even if she doesn't know.

What if her panty drawer is the living room end table (a property you have permission to be on). She can't just willy nilly be putting her panties in random drawers and not expect people to look especially if it's not locked.

Now if it was in her room (a property you don't have permission to be on) or locked. That's different.

But if she puts her dresser (trail camera) in the living room (property you have permission to be on) you're still looking in her dresser when you open that drawer.

Dang panty sniffers. rotflmao

LOL, I live by two rules......never touch another man's wife......and never touch another man's huntin' stuff!! Unless they're both invited of course...then it's party on!! :pickle: :pickle: :pickle:
