Knife sharpener

This converted me from a crappy knife sharpener to pretty good. Not too expensive and fool proof.

This is the best sharpener I've ever used. I literally fixed all of my fillet knives and kitchen knives in minutes.View attachment 170494View attachment 170495

I never seem to be able to get a good edge using a single spindle sharpener like that. Probably not doing it right but who knows, just seems tough to keep a consistent angle.
Unless I'm reading it wrong those are a steelused to "straighten the edge" rather than put on an edge.

I have a work sharp and will use it when I need to, and I have a similar to the spyderco sharpmaker that I haven't used in years. I love the wicked edge i picked up on herea few years ago. That thing does a great job.

I just got a Sharpal whetstone and strop. I have the Spyderco style, Lanskey, etc. I wanted to make things simpler.

This guy's channel is great! He explains why certain sharpeners methods don't hold an edge for long. Very informative with microscopic views of the edges.

He reviews that Sharpal stone and says it is great for the $

I usually hate these kind of sharpeners because they do a crappy job and they rarely last. I needed to sharpen just about every knife in the house and thought if this gets them even 90% there it's worth it for $6. Fully expected this to be disposable and I'd have to finish them all to get them sharp. 27 knives later it still puts a razors edge on them in about 10 swipes. I'm talking arm hair shaving sharp. Color me surprised. I'm going to grab a few more for the boat, camping gear, hunting truck etc.
