Is there really a big demand for those in Ohio? I can see around the high vacation areas, but Ohio?
Yes. Even in sleepy old SE Ohio, it's a growing market segment. Traveling healthcare workers are cash flowing investments all over Marietta right now and I know people building 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabins for this purpose and it's paying out.

Intel is a recent development adding to an existing situation in central Ohio. Columbus has become Silicon Valley 2.0 which has led to an influx of coastal tech talent. Where they come from $1M gets you a flat in the city, maybe. They show up with that spending power and can outbid people to the tune of 1.5x market value for a $400k house and walk away with a nice chunk of change left over. And a house that’s 3x larger and in a much better area than where they are coming from.

Here's some more insight on what's driving housing demand.

Since being formed over 10 years ago, JobsOhio has served as the state's economic development agency. The most $1B+ projects they've had in the pipeline are any given time before 2022, was 6. There are currently 16 projects in various stages of development that exceed the $1B mark. All those projects require workers. Workers need homes. You do the math from here.
