I used to be that guy. Also checked the oil & cleaned the windshield.

And they had an oil can rack sitting next to the pump so you could check your oil…then stab the can with the steel spout and top her off.

And I don’t remember any stickers on the pumps back then saying, if you steal the gas, we’ll take your license…. Probably because we knew the consequences….
