Life in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s

When I was a kid growing up in the Cincinnati area in the 60s and 70s, there were only 4 TV stations. 3 were VHF (ABC, CBS, NBC) and one was not a network (WXIX ch19 on UHF) - later came ch48 on UHF (PBS) This was before cable. Well, the channels would shut down usually at midnight, and would play the Star Spangled Banner before signing off. I remember one of the stations would play this video before the anthem. A more patriotic time, when it was OK to acknowledge God. This video transports me back to boyhood

We had 2 channels growing up. When the first snow or ice storm hit in the winter you had better like what was on tv because the antenna was froze and you was stuck with it until it warmed up. And just like the Jeff Foxworthy joke, when the president was on tv, your night was shot!
