Seen 3 deer total so far. I’m in the nursery. Starting to cool off and wind changing directions. If it stays out the n-nw this evening, we going to plan a. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Found some sign but nothing crazy, deer have been in the bottoms mostly feeding on acorns. We gonna focus on transition zones downwind of feeding areas in thicker areas. I will update later.

New area, got dj in a tree and I walked further back. Checking wind direction and looking for a tree to climb. Over 40 yards I see a cam so I move back more and walk up on a younger hunter. I mean 5 yards away until he said “hey” ….. I bout turned inside out lol. Apologized to him and asked if there was anyone back this way……pointing north. He said no and I eased out. Walked maybe a half and set up between a creek and high grass field. No sign but a good corridor. Anything can happen. This was plan b.

Well I’m afraid it’s time to leave Ohio. We hunted hard and scouted hard, but things just didn’t work out. We had fun, got frustrated and then just enjoyed the moments. I’d like to post some things we learned from this trip.

This is a beautiful state! It is deer looking country if I’ve ever seen any. The public lands are fantastic, maintained and planted. Plenty of deer sign but not many deer. There was a good amount of deer sign tho. Plenty of deer trails, decent amount of rubs and scrapes in areas. We made the decision driving back after the morning hunt. I was telling Dj my mind is boggled that we never seen a deer in the day while driving…..anywhere. But then we were almost to Dave’s house and there stood a doe. First one, imagine that!

Following along w the live hunt thread was fun and kept me motivated. Lots of great deer was seen and taken. Too bad we wasn’t in the conversation 😂. I don’t know how many steps were taken or ridges and high grass crp fields we took, but I can tell you this county will be missing half its hitchhikers and thorns off the briars….thank me later.

I hope everyone has a great season and a safe one.
