Live from Louisiana

Laid down last night and rolled over and a cramp in the inner part of my thigh said not today mfer. I struggled with it till I yelled at dj to get up and help me. Finally was able to stand up after 5 minutes to try the stretch it out. Drank some water and an electrolytes bottle. Took 3 alieve and laid back down. Sucks getting old.

Woke up at 5 without the alarm and could hear light rain hitting the tarp covering the tent. Great I can rest and not feel the internal guilt of not going. Woke up at daybreak and no rain but it could come at anytime. Rain thru till tomorrow at midday. Then blowing NNE at 20. Thursday should be a great day. Until then just gonna soak up things around here.

This park we staying at reminds me of Paint Creek. Except it has tons of deer and turkeys you can drive 15’ from and they just stand there and look at you.

So it might be a little noisy as a school group of kids are having a field day and night next to us.

So much for peace and tranquility but happy to see kids enjoying the great outdoors.

Quality vs quantity….. It’s my mantra anymore….

Pickle juice. I buy a case of it off and on through the year and especially when I am out hunting or working on the farm. Had some horrendous cramps like that over the years, definitely feel your pain. Of course everyone says drink more water and they're right but they still happen.

You know I have two gallon jars of pickles w the juice at the camp and totally forgot to pick some up. I guess when it starts raining I will go fill up the truck w fuel and go into Walmart and load up 😂. I do have liquid IV’s but never grabbed any w me to drink. These two days I will be hydrating like a fool, not the “Dave’s” kind either.

Rain ended about 9 this morning with the wind pumping around 20 till dark. We all hunted different wmas. I seen 2 small rack bucks and 4 does, Dj seen 4 doe and Hunter didn’t see anything in Missouri. 8 hours in a saddle ain’t my kind of fun. First real sit so I got in at 10:30 and sat till dark. Hopefully tomorrow brings along a good buck for all of us. Good luck to all trying to get their big buck.

Went to town to grab lunch and met an older couple. They invited me to sit w them. We hit it off and they invited me to their place to see the man cave. It was very impressive. I felt like I was in bass pro in Missouri. Left there and scouted a ridge on the other side of the wma. Went back and got in my tree for 4. Around 5:30 I seen a good buck, unknowns to me he was tending a doe and got within 50yds twice but I couldn’t see them as it was thick. He grunted, belly growled and made plenty tending grunts. I couldn’t make out the doe as she stood there eating at 70 yards. He stood there just following her and grunting. I snuck out after dark 30.

The boys seen a few deer but nothing worth an arrow. Tomorrow it is, cold and pretty still.
