Well he’s all on ice and caped out. Of course I don’t have the details because it wasn’t me that killed. So I give the cliff notes.
Yesterday we scouted this section, nothing crazy but had deer trails and few rubs and scrapes. Arrived before the break of day and split up. With my back hurting I took my low down hunting seat and went to a grassy area where the lake gets when it’s high, currently low from what I’m told. Well I didn’t see anything. Hunter was at another section and seen a nice heavy 6 and a spike. After a while Dj text me saying he had 2 does under him before he could pull his bow up. A little later had a thin 10 pt cross out in front. 30 minutes later he sends me a pic of a buck under his stand. I asked him if it was a shooter and he said no

.
I’m thinking to myself…..huh I probably would’ve let an arrow loose

. Few minutes past and the buck he killed was 35 yards just almost at the top of a finger. He texted me but I didn’t see it for 30 minutes

. Said he drilled it and ran down the ridge, going the wrong way of course. Told him to stay in the stand till 10:30, 1.5 hours more. Everyone reading this knows how hard that is to do. Made arrangements w Hunter to meet me at the truck for 10:30. Of course both of us was early and chomping at the bits to go do the recovery. Dj met us half way back to the truck so we could follow him. He went to the shot, said plenty of blood. We tracked it 70 yards and there he was on the saddle of the ridge. Now you know I took plenty of pics and we made a game plan on what was easiest to get him out. We decided to cut across this long ass peninsula and pull up the ridge and go down towards the lake. Then we pulled along the lake to 100 yards of a slight hill to the truck.
Weighed 233 w guys and scored 141 6/8, his biggest yet. I have yet to kill but my trip has been a total success. Making memories one day at a time. Money can’t buy these moments. Thanks for following, hopefully I can add to the trip.
