So now that Joe brought me out of hiding, I have a fishing trip to share. One of Hunters friend want to fish a rodeo. Proceeds go to St Jude’s hospital so I said why not. Friday evening we decided to go to cat island and fish for an hour before dark and then go gigging flounder. We pulled up near the island and the seagulls was diving for about a quarter mile, shrimp jumping all over. We chased them around only catching 10” specks. They have to be 15” in Ms and 11” in La. Dark was coming so we waded the 500 yards to shore w lights and gigs. I’ve never done this believe it or not. We got 18 flounder and the wind picked up making the water dirty. I had 26 miles to go to get into protected waters. Pounded some waves in the pitch black but we made it. Pulled up to the train trestles which had a couple lights barely shining in the water. Popping sounds were heard as fish were busting bait passing by. I hooked a bull redfish and fought him till getting near the boat and lost it. Hunterpiching underneath some structure reeled in a 30” red and Cody caught a 35” red. We also caught a 5# blue cat. We tried some camp lights but nothing was happening. Westerly winds this whole weekend and on the side of the river fishing sucks w a west wind. Got home at 4am. Along with the 100 degree weather, we went out Saturday evening. Got to the boat and a squall brewed up and I said we can wait till the morning. Sunday we went out and got caught in the rain and only caught hardheads and a couple small croaker. A good time was had except for at the fuel dock.

I spent Saturday working on the boat. Put a new Garmin chartplottet on it, new UHF antenna, and dumped filters and checked the lower oil. Planned to take it out Sunday and while I was cleaning up Saturday night I flipped the marine radio over to weather. Sunday was a nogo for being on the water here. 😂. Ain't that the way it goes.
