Them colors are great in a green field, horrible in the woods w leaves. I know your a bama fan and all but, ever see the leaves in the fall on the trees and on the ground?

So I picked Hunter up down the road. He went walking after he got down while I was still in the tree. Told me where to pick him up. Anyway I pick him up and his rain shield for his pack is in his hand. I asked what’s that and he replied pork back straps. He was a mile back and this little piggy fucked up.

Tucking tail headed for home. Got a couple hunts in, put a couple more cams out and fixed the roof on the camp. Back to the grind and back for the weekend. Acorns were non existent and dry as a popcorn fart.

Just made it to the camp. The boys are here. I’m told they tracking a deer. They been here since Wednesday and Ryan had 3 wma gator tags. Those were filled in short order. It’s dry as a popcorn fart here, hasn’t ran since before I cut the property. Anyway time to make memories.

Went to the nwr where only squirrel season is open. Hunted along some brakes (dry sloughs). Sat down and a black squirrel showed up, 1 shot and he was in the game bag in short order. Moved a little ways and was texting w Fletch. Front came through and wind picked up. Looked up and there was a sounder of hogs about 150 yards, wind in my face. I crept up trying to stay behind trees and got withdrawn n 60 yards. I’m shooting my 22 mag and felt confident of a shot. A bunch of 40-50 pounders and then there was the big sow. Thought about which one to shoot and big momma was in my vision. Put the crosshairs at the base of the ear and let her eat. They all took off in the thick palmettos with no blood to track. Sat for a few and followed in that direction with nothing found. A little further in I found a likely wood duck hole and marked it on my gps for later (wink).
Walked further north following the brake and decide to head back to the atv. About half way I catch movement and could see what looked like a 140# boar and I eased up to about 40 yards behind a big tree. He was behind some buck brush and had to have winded me as I was fixing to pull my gun up to aim and ran off into the palmettos. No big deal, as I walked out going through a sunny landing spot before the atv, I almost stepped on a moccasin. He slithered away before I stepped on him, thought about killing it but decided to just pass on him.
I was further back than the next pic when hunter asked where I was so I screen shot my location.

So after fixing the two holes I had w sheet metal, I just got done cool sealing the screws and some rust spots that was on the used sheets. As I was doing it I noticed two screws missing over the porch. I tried filling them w cool seal but I’m gonna have to get up there…..shit. Hot as hell up there along w it being silver. I will be ready for our 40 days and nights of rain this winter. It’s dry up here, can see any sign, acorns are few in between and I’m sure the hogs are sucking the few falling which is mainly pin oaks. Our red oaks should come in soon, along w over up and wild pecan. It is what it is, enjoy being out here.
I did rent an airb&b house in Missouri for our trip. We leaving early on October 29th and staying till the 10th. Rifle season opens on the 12th. So does our week long primitive then rifle. Duck opens in half the state also. So I have choices to make. Thanks for following.
Oh Hunter is in the woods since 12 and won’t be back till after dark. I’m sure they will spill some kind of blood. I will post if so.
