Well they had deer come out, shot a big doe, jumped real high and ran 40 yards and stopped. Then walked and was wobbling. At dark I met them and there was plenty of blood. Followed it in the crp and dried up after 50-60 yards. Went back to the camp to get pearl. Arrived back and she worked the whole area and we came up empty. Hate it for the young man but he will have plenty opportunities coming.

Hunted yesterday morning for ducks w my buddy Chandos. We killed one. After we scouted for our deer hunt on the wma. Found some good stuff, so we will be joining the pumpkin patch Friday.

This morning we hunted the river and killed 7 in the fog. 4 woodys, green wing teal, a wigeon and hooded merganser.

Spotted cat, flathead, yellow cat, goujon, ops….all the same fish. As for the merg it was mistaken for a wood duck flying at mach 2. It’s not a very good eater but edible, especially w Cajuns. It was disposed off. As for species of birds we get most except for cinnamon teal but a few gets killed every yeah. Old squaw hens, I’ve killed a Brandt goose here. Scooters are being killed down in Venice. Ruddy’s every blue moon. Fulvous ducks are rare but killed, plenty of black bellied mexican ducks, even killed 2 black ducks.

Well not much to post. Haven’t killed anything. Couldn’t hunt Friday thru Sunday for ducks for the either sex deer hunts going on. Today our zone, it’s the split. Still open for another week by the house. Got a citation by WLF Friday evening cause I was in an abandoned ladder stand on public that a nutall oak had grown into.

On a better note, I have 7 hen turkeys roosting on my place and have seen and heard them everyday. Never had turkeys here and hoping there is a population growing here.

Rather than cite you, why don’t they just remove it and be done with it….. Unless it’s an easy cash cow for them….
