Navarre Mardi gras was last week, Pensacola has two. One this afternoon for kiddos and one this evening for tumble drying...

What tha.... Mardi Gras has french roots, east Florida was all solidly spanish controlled. Well, I guess this was all "West Florida" at one point, and at the time of British control Pensacola was the capital, despite the parts around here still being under French and Spanish control back and forth at various times. Meh. I'll allow it. les Bons temps rouler. 🤣🤣

I will pass.

What are the odds the girl that hit you was driving a mustang? 🤣

It was like a small Nissan Kiks. It wasn't on the parade route but a side street by a friend's house. Vehicles parked everywhere. She was just trying to leave and had 4 other teens in the car, slow rolling through and got distracted a tad too long and veered too far over. I should have been paying more attention also.

Psh, I bet her mom drives a mustang and taught her everything she knows.

The Ocean Springs night Mardi Gras parade went great. Caught a good buz, caught a bunch of throws, got hit by a car. All good. 🤣

Made out like a bandit on cheap Chinese shit. Mary-grace the fake baby killed it again on the throws. The wifes Dodge Durango got hit, I got hit by the car before it hit the Durango. Never saw it coming. One moment im standing there, the next i'm on tumble dry. Fortunatly my boys werent around and were safe back away from the road. I'm sore but good thing I was half drunk 😅. I'll feel it tomorrow. Bumper seam clips on the durango popped back into place just fine, just some scratches that'll buff out. A sweet girl hit me, 17 yo, just wasn't paying attention with other teens in the car and took her eyes off the road too long and drifted off the shoulder. All is good, her dad seemed like a nice guy when I spoke to him on the phone. My always so calm wife may have overreacted a tad when she ripped her door open and started to snatch her out by her hair before I could get up and before she realized it was a kid. Nobody is worse for wares so let the good times roll!

Is that a plush stuffed unicorn y'all scored?

.

The family went on a hike today to Red Bluff, nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Mississippi. It's a bluff above the Pearl River that's been sloughing off for as long as time. It's on private property but the owners don't care if people visit. No rails, no signs, just death if you get too close. They had to relocate the highways twice and back in the 50s there was a train derailment from the tracks sloughing off. A couple of miles and some elevation but worth it.

Red clay was commonly mixed with Buttermilk and Lime and used as paint. It will definitely stain the school clothes or church clothes. Pretty sure every boy in the south has had his butt whooped at least once for it. Some of us are a little slower to learn our lesson. 🤣
:ROFLMAO:
People think we ran around barefoot because we were poor, well we were but that's not why, It's because that red clay will ruin any pair of shoes you wear outside to play. :ROFLMAO:

Wokeup this morning with a list of yardwork to do. Walked outside to a beautiful sunny day and said screw that. 😅 Took the boys exploring instead. Went up to Josaphine sandbar on the Pascagoula River. The last true free-flowing river in the lower 48. Undamed, unmolested by the corps of engineers and allowed to flood its banks seasonally. There are other "free-flowing" rivers but they're all smaller tributaries of a larger river system. The Pascagoula and all its tributaries run free all the way to the gulf as they have since their beginning. I took them up there as the water is really low right now and the bar is huge. Here in a few weeks, it'll be way higher when the spring rains hit.

Wecame across a couple of artisan wells in the area. One is rather sulphur tasting but the bigger one isn't bad, just a hint of dirt taste.

After the sandbar we did a couple mile hike through the rivers bottom land. Played prize games like whose the first to find me a cottonwood leaf, black oak leaf, magnolia leaf etc. Studied the tracks of bobcat, deer, and pig. Had a quiz game with deer tracks of if the deer was walking, feeding or running based on them stepping in their own prints or splay toed with dew points printed. Heck we even did some human tracking. 🤣

A woman and man walked the bar before we did. I showed them how a females print was smaller, higher arched, pointed more oit than inline and didn't imprint as much as the man's print, which was heavier, longer, flatter, and used more of the ball of his foot to push off.

My favorite moment of the day.

Me trying to show the boys something and them being 7 & 9 year old boys just playing.

Me: "If you shut your mouth for a minute the woods will tell you something."

In the silence Pierce let's out a huge fart and says. "It'll tell ya that stinks!

🤣🤣🤣🤣
