Heart break - TAKE II.
View attachment 116417
Shit ton of squirrels this morning. Another fat archery Fox Squirrel that will be making a ride home w/ me this evening.

So,,,

the two bedded deer that were just out in front of me for hours, finally got up shortly ago and headed further into the pines, most likely because of the heavy wet snow we're currently recieving and they were covered with it, which is all good because, I've wanted to retrieve my arrowed squirrel before those two deer showed up.

The squirrels are just crazy nuts today, pretty much the entire time since this morning and I could've shot more if I had another fixed broadhead in my quiver. Unfortunately, the other 4 are mechanicals that I do not wish to use on squirrels if I can help it.

Anyhow,,,

I'm good now for a TAKE III 🤣

For anyone following my hunt of the big 8 named Tyson. Here’s a perfect frontal shot of what he looks like. He has been right at the cusp of daylight for the past three weeks and I have only had two encounters with him during light. I do not hunt over this bait pile but I am hoping he will slip up the next few days and I can catch him coming from bed to feed. The palmation and character of this deer and the amount of hours I’ve spent hunting him has me on edge and I hope I can send an arrow at him the next four days!

Update for ten oclock since there are deer everywhere. 13 does and counting so far this morning. One decent ten came through probably 2.5 y/o but not what I’m after. Big bodied bedded deer was a humongous doe. Every bit of 220lbs. Never came by, got up and started walking towards the southwest. Had two big bobcats come in about fifteen minutes ago and casually trot under the stand at ten yards. First couple I’ve seen up close in Ohio. As we speak there are at least 30 squirrels running around and no wind. Deer movement has been constant and I am hopeful for this late morning push. Hoping to hear a thwackkk soon boys

Well guys, no shooter buck to end the night but I did take my longest shot on a deer tonight that I’ve ever taken in my life. I had does and small bucks all over me from the time I sat down in the tree today. No less than 25 or 26 deer. Had a 10 point come in at 450 pm and pass ten feet under my stand. Didn’t see the buck I wanted to. But at last night I saw a decent doe walk through the top of the field and towards my direction, then stop. I threw a range on her at 44 yards and decided if she walked out towards the west and towards the middle of the field I was going to take a shot.... and exactly she did. I drew, held for about twenty seconds, and let it fly..... needless to say, my heart was pumping and it sounded like a fair hit! I waited forty five minutes to get down, waited for the wife to show up and got on blood. here’s what I have to show for it! Great hunt and a great deer to feed me and the fam! Entry was a little further off than I thought but at that distance, with my arrow weight and draw length I was extremely surprised with the results! Couldn’t be happier with her.
