Nothing this evening. Waiting past dark to get down. Tons of coyotes making a racket in the distance though.

This morning was a great day to be in the stand. But no sign of rutting deer. Three does bedded down behind my treestand. Calm just doing their thing. One larger deer early but never got a clear view to see if buck or doe.

Took son out for the first in a few days, I'm on camera duty now .

Jumped 2 doe at stand getting in and nothing else til right at dark. Had what sounded like 3-4 walk by at 15yds but to dark to tell what they were. No rutting seen in Athens as of yet

I was not planned on hunting earlier today until the last min when I got home from work. Had that feeling I needed to be out there. I got there 430 and 5:10 shooter buck was strolling by 200 yards on other side of property. I quickly rattled and then grunted and he stopped. Then few seconds later he just kept on walking away into the woods. 5:40 smal fork horn comes all the way down to me and stopped at 10 yards to work the scrape for few mins then turns around to go back.... then he stopped within 40 yd and looks dead on the doe being horny and all. So, He went after her ass and she was playing hard to get with him and took off. Then he stood there for 20 mins. Legal shoot end 6:02. He still by me and I can’t move...then big ass deer just came in stood there to eat corn 45 yard front of me to hang for a bit. My guess is that shooter buck I grunted Earlier. I’m going back out tomorrow. I think that shooter buck I grunted earlier went to bed down then came out to eat corn

Hoping to get up in a tree tomorrow after work if I work a short day. If not I’ll be up all weekend, haven’t hunted since I’ve been back.

Something rather strange on the way in. I noticed some small patches of deer hair in & along the side of the road in front of our alfalfa field. No other deer signs anywhere else in the immediate area. IDK if a couple bucks got together fighting in the field or what, or perhaps a deer might have been hit by a car?

I attached a couple of photos of what's there. More white patches along the side of the road is deer hair also in the 2nd photo. A stretch of about 10 yards or better. No blood to be seen anywhere. No tire skid marks either.

Hmmm,,, something to ponder over I suppose.

Anyways, anyone that might have any idea what possibly might have caused it, please let me know, thanks!

I'll investigate further tomorrow.

Thinking a vehicle. Just my best WAG. White hair rules out a bird and tuffs of hair are pretty big wads. Location of hair makes the WAG that more believable.

I got out to my spot as the sun was just out of sight. Better late than never I guess. Had a buck come across the field but I was unable to cut the distance needed before he got inside 80yrds , to close To move anymore. Hunting standing corn till it's off. Hopefully it pays off.

All I saw was a Bobcat today. And bed edger, rototiller, shovels, rakes, and dump trucks. Living vicariously thru you guys. Maybe tomorrow evening. Or Saturday or Sunday sometime. This is so unlike me. Normally I would forego all work and responsibilities this time of the year. On the flip side, got this landscape installed today. Just need one more ton of river rock and a touch of mulch to finish in the morning.

Well..... apparently I'm the guy that helps everyone else get a deer..... Took a good friend of mine hunting on the Ashland county property. Ground attack style. Five o clock rolls around we see antlers, good antlers. A few seconds later....she puts an arrow through a monster. I've put three people including my son, on bucks this year, found 2 bucks for other people..... The deer karma gods better help me out! LMAO [emoji23][emoji28][emoji23][emoji28] super pumped. Great deer. First buck too!

Had a great night this evening. Went in to kill a doe but the only doe I saw was being followed by a real nice mature 8 pointer. I watched them in the standing beans for over 40 minutes. In that time he chased off two other bucks and ended up bumping her into within 40 yards of me. Awesome evening!

Knee surgery yesterday, and I’m able to hobble around without crutches. Going to be in The ground blind early tomorrow. Still haven’t seen the rut yet, so I’m hoping for some action tomorrow. Going to sit tomorrow and every morning this weekend. Sadly, my rut stand is a climber and my knee won’t allow it. So the blind it is for this weekend. Better than nothing I guess.
