Boy, what a big difference a day makes with regards to deer movement. Perhaps those deer know it’s the weekend, expecting all the weekend warriors?

Serious though, this morning was super slow.

Sorry guys for not posting my regular morning update. I pulled out my smart cellphone to check the time and I heard & felt something my hit my boot, then heard it hit the ground. It was the Stylist Pen that I use to operate my phone because I use gloves when I hunt. For the life of me, with this new phone, I can’t operate it worth a shit without that pen.

Anyhow,

We had plenty of fog this morning in the creek valley and virtually no wind to speak of. It was more like swirling thermals all morning. The fog is just now starting to lift.

Basically, I only saw two antlerless deer moving slowly out of the lower CRP field heading North towards my home/bait station area. That was it for the 2 ½ hours I hunted. I got down well before the temps took off because I was bundled up due to my arthritis flaring up lately. The ground was plenty wet from the morning dew which made it perfect to slip out quietly, plus I got home without getting all sweaty.

I got in with no issues early. I was up late last night and woke up way super early so, that means I drank too much coffee before heading out, which also means, I had to piss out of the stand about 8:30. Something I try not to do, but oh well, when you gotta go, you just go!

Like I said, I got down early, @9:00 a.m. and tried to find my pen with no avail. Must order me in a new one now. Wife is going to let me barrow hers until the new on gets here.

Since I hunted nearly all day yesterday, I must play catch up today with all my regular chores.

I will be back out later this afternoon.

Good luck to all those that are still out hunting!

Action slowed to a stop. Time for brefast

Almost had a shot at a monarch doe that I've heard about for days now. And had a chance to kill a solid 8 point, but he was only 2 and has real potential. I let him go. Oth deer came right to the buck and doe decoys. Buck came running after I grunted. That was cool as hell. Just wasn't what I was after once he got close. Looked like a freaking stud at 100 yards in low light. Lol. Put him around 115" 8 point and only 2....
