Made it back to the cabin unscathed. I’m pretty sure he’s done but gonna give it an hour or so. He lifted his head only once between 2:45-3:45 and had it laying flat on the ground the rest of the time. At 3:25 he thrashed and tried to lift his head but couldn’t. Fingers crossed

That’s the plan, I’ve got nothing to lose but him. It’s windy and crunchy here. He’s only lifted his head once in the last 30 minutes. It’s so low in the brush now I keep losing sight of his antlers. Time is on my side. I think i can safely sneak out if I decide to
FWIW, If he isn't definitely dead within two hours, I think I would be inclined to start my exit with plenty of light so I could keep an eye on any movement he might make until you are an adequate distance away so as to not possibly disturb him. It is very likely that if you shot him at noon and he is not dead by 6pm, he is not liver shot, or just barely nicked it and he is just gut shot. He is not going to move more than a few yards unless you, other deer, coyotes, dogs or something makes him move. Carefully, cautiously sneak in there in super stealth mode in the morning to retrieve him or finish him off.

We made it back to Giles house. Sitting around dj said I’m going hunting. I said why don’t we scout. He picked the place and we got there. Walked around found good sign, trails, scrapes and rubs and someone’s cam. Marked a bunch of spots and looking on onx, I said let’s go to the other end and look. We split up and I didn’t find anything to promising but dj found what appears to be the holy grail spot 😂. Big rubs, scrapes, trails, poop and tons of white acorns. And it ain’t 2 miles back. We will set up in the morning wish us some non resident luck 😂.

I seen 1 doe right at dark and that was it for the day . My son has been holding down the fort at work while I've been off all week hunting . When he got off work he jumped in his hunting gear and got to the woods . And was lucky enough to get a shot at this buck . I'm proud of him 👍👍👍

Consider me a glutton for punishment. Back at the farm, albeit it unplanned. Oldest daughter said she wanted to hunt this morning, but was out late with mom, so she bailed on me. Flipped a coin between hunting public or private. Private won. Flipped a coin between something we own or permission. Landowner won. Flipped a coin between the house and the farm. The farm won. A shooter came through the gate and onto us about 2 hours ago, so that helps a bit.

Good to everyone headed out today!

Ty and I are getting ready, but there is a line of rain 45mins out and they are calling for it to come down for 1.5-2hrs. That SOB was not on the forecast last night. Could be good, could be bad, but either way he's getting in the blind for his 1st hunt this year. He doesn't know he's about to get the low down on the birds and the bees on this hunt too🤣
